Amsterdam Netherlands

Time and venue: 14:00-15:30, G002, RAI Amsterdam Convention Centre

Important NOTICE

The global situation with the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) has been developing rapidly over the last weeks with numerous new cases raising significant concerns at a global level. To ensure health and safety for all and those around us, the organizers of the conference have decided to cancel the FIG Working Week in Amsterdam, including the launch event of the Guidelines.

We very much regret this unfortunate turn of events and appreciate your understanding.

========================

This is event is organized to launch the ‘Guidelines for the Formalization of Informal Constructions’. The study is a brief, practical and easy-to-read guide, explaining how to structure a program for the formalization of informal constructions. The focus is on the formalization process itself. The guide also describes how to analyze the problem magnitude, achieve political acceptance, and identify the root problems that may cause future informality.

The ‘Guidelines for the Formalization of Informal Constructions’ is the third study published by the UNECE Committee on Urban Development, Housing and Land Management on the topic of informal settlements.
It has been prepared in cooperation between UNECE and the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG).

You may download or read the publication online here.
