How to Mainstream Gender in Environmental Policy

This toolbox has been developed to assist the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Serbia in integrating gender equality considerations into various sectoral programmes and policies. It provides a practical and workable approach to gender mainstreaming in environmental policy. It has been applied to two programmes chosen by the Ministry of Environmental Protection: the National Waste Prevention Programme for the period 2020-2025 and the Roadmap for circular economy in Serbia. Although the two programmes were used to exemplify the approach during a training session, the toolbox can be applied to any other sector of environmental policy, possibly during thematic workshops, involving the experts in charge of developing a specific programme or policy and internal or external experts on gender.

The development of this toolbox was supported by funding from the United Nations Regular Programme on Technical Cooperation.
