The meeting was organized online in WebEx.
This capacity building workshop was organized to support two projects led by UNECE: (i) Smart Sustainable Cities for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the New Urban Agenda in the UNECE Region in Tbilisi (Georgia) and (ii) Inter-regional cooperation for the implementation of the New Urban Agenda project in Almaty (Kazakhstan).
Both projects are aimed at supporting the capacities of local governments to develop cross-sectoral and integrated urban plans and coherent urban policies for sustainable urban development. They also aim to facilitate implementation of the Sustainable Development Goal 11 and other urban related SDGs of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The Projects list the development of Sustainable Smart City profiles using the U4SSC KPI Collection Methodology among their deliverables, and the facilitation of cross regional peer-learning as one of the project's aims.
Objectives of the Workshop:
(i) To build the capacity of the local governments to promote evidence-based policies through preparation of the Sustainable Smart City Profile;
(ii) To facilitate peer-to-peer learning among the cities within UNECE region.
