UNDA Project 1819AE: Montenegro - Enabling conditions for country assistance and increasing resilience to pandemics

Komovi Mountains

The assistance is made possible in the framework of the Project on evidence-based environmental governance and sustainable environmental policies in support of the 2030 Agenda in South-East Europe (2018–2021), headed by the UNECE EPR Programme with support from the United Nations Development Account, which is well underway in Montenegro, one of the five countries in South-Eastern Europe supported by the Project. For Montenegro, the overall aim of the Project is to enhance national capacities to assess the most critical aspects and priority needs in its environmental governance and performance, in line with the recommendations of the third EPR of Montenegro and targets of the Sustainable Development Goals related to the substance of the EPR.

UNECE assistance to Montenegro during the COVID-19 pandemic was adapted in accordance with the international and national travel and meeting restrictions. The funds were redeployed to support the preparation of additional strategic and policy documents with a view to strengthening the environmental governance and performance of Montenegro and enhancing its resilience in dealing with and recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic and preventing future possible pandemics.
