In the follow-up to the UNECE Innovation for Sustainable Development Review of Georgia (I4SDR), 2021, a UNECE capacity-building programme is supporting the Government of Georgia in the implementation of the I4SDR recommendations. The programme aims to build the capacities of Georgia’s Innovation and Technology Agency (GITA) and the State Procurement Agency of Georgia (SPA) to promote and implement innovation-enhancing public procurement (IEP), drawing on the recommendations of Chapter 5 of the I4SDR as well as the national reform priorities of the Government.
The first agreed output under the capacity-building programme was the development of a handbook on IEP, which is now available in English and in Georgian.
This study visit will bring senior Georgian officials from SPA and GITA to Norway, a UNECE member State with a proven track record and good practices in IEP, for exchange of experience and peer learning. It will build the capacity of Georgian policymakers to implement IEP and help guide reform efforts in this area, in view of Georgia's EU Association Agreement and alignment with the EU Acquis.
