Dr. Monique Retamal
Research Principal, Institute for Sustainable Futures at the University of Technology in Sydney
Dr. Retamal is an environmental engineer and social scientist specialising in sustainable consumption and production (SCP) and the circular economy in the Asia-Pacific region. Her PhD investigated the prospects for sustainable collaborative consumption in Southeast Asian cities, which involved interviews with over seventy businesses, policymakers and sustainability experts in the region. She maintains an interest in business models and policies that enable resource sharing, take back, repair and reuse. Her recent research has focused on the international trade of waste plastics, sustainable supply chains for plastics and the clothing industry in Asia, and policies to support a circular economy.
