Background
For more than thirty years, UN/CEFACT has been developing and publishing standards – free of charge – for the entire supply chain, and in particular for the transport and logistics area. Many organizations have contributed to create truly global and robust standards that have stood the test of time. From UN/EDIFACT, still widely used today, to the Multi-Modal Transport Reference Data Model (a semantic library and structure of all of the data potentially used in transport and logistics), UN/CEFACT’s offers a complete set of solutions for the industry. It has also been a valuable platform to look at the data and the exchanges from the perspective of multiple modes of transport and multiple user needs (transport, consignor, regulatory, packing materials…).
