The UNECE Group of Experts on Gas examines the critical role of gas in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and provides a forum for multi-stakeholder dialogue on ways to promote sustainable and clean production and consumption of gas in the UNECE region. The fifth session will feature panel discussions on: 

  • How gas helps attain the Sustainable Development Goals
  • Global perspectives on the sustainable production and consumption of pipeline gas and LNG
  • Best practices in managing methane emissions along the gas value chain
  • Role of gas in improving urban air quality
  • Synergies between gas and renewable energy, and 
  • Biogas, hydrogen and other emerging issues.


Workshop on reducing methane emissions from the gas sector (English only)
A workshop on reducing methane emissions from the gas sector will be held the day before, on 21 March, in the same venue (Salle V). This event is a follow-up to the industry workshop held in July 2017 in Madrid.
