4th Session of the Group of Experts on Energy Efficiency

4th Session of the Group of Experts on Energy Efficiency

31 October - 01 November 2017
Salle VIII, Palais des Nations Geneva Switzerland

Provisional Timetable of the 4th Session Group of Experts on Energy Efficiency

The fourth session of the Group of Experts on Energy Efficiency (GEEE) will focus its discussions on implementation of the Work Plan for 2016–2017 and the new activities planned for 2018-2019.

Results of the first meeting of the Joint Task Force on Energy Efficiency Standards in Buildings (with the Committee on Housing and Land Management) on 30 October 2017 and its upcoming activities will be reviewed. Delegates will discuss practical ways for promoting and implementing Framework guidelines for energy efficiency standards in buildings.

Delegates will have an opportunity to share existing practices and exchange experience in implementation of energy efficiency policies and measures in their countries as well as challenges to their implementation in the industry sector.  A joint study by UNECE and the Copenhagen Centre on Energy Efficiency that looked into barriers to investing in energy efficiency and ways to overcome them will be presented. A discussion on policies and actions that increase the bankability of energy efficiency and proposed next steps for energy efficiency finance options in the region is planned. Delegates will look at the role of utilities and energy service companies in improving energy efficiency and discuss the possible use of geo-spatial and big data in energy transition.

Outcomes of the Eighth International Forum on Energy for Sustainable Development, their implications for the work of GEEE, actions to achieve energy-related Sustainable Development Goals, and cross-cutting activities on transition of the energy sector will be a matter of discussion at the session. Delegates will be invited to outline practical steps for implementing the Work Plan for 2018–2019.
