The workshop, conducted from 16 to 17 October 2023 in Skopje, provided a forum for participants to discuss recommendations on disaster risk reduction (DRR) policies, strategies made by the Environmental Performance Review (EPR), and implementation status in their respective countries. Highlights included progress updates since the last EPR and efforts made to implement proposed DRR measures. The program also included introductions to national policies, strategies, and regulatory frameworks, with an emphasis on identifying replicable initiatives appropriate to UNECE Programme countries.
The agenda of the event included discussions on DRR topics related to the workshop's themes, such as DRR and implementation of SDGs, institutional arrangements, funding. Participants from Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, The Republic of Moldova, Montenegro, Morocco, North Macedonia, Romania and Tajikistan exchanged best practices, prioritized needs, and explored possibilities for regional cooperation. Networking opportunities were also significant, allowing guests to build professional contacts.
