UNECE is an implementing partner in the United Nations Development Account project “Global Initiative towards post-Covid-19 resurgence of the MSME sector”, conceived to strengthen the capacity and resilience of micro-, small and medium enterprises (MSME) in developing countries and economies in transition to mitigate the economic and social impact of the COVID-19 crisis.
One of the UNECE activities is to explore best practices and develop guidelines for MSME in delivering energy-efficient products and services and in providing renewable energy equipment in response to the crisis. One of the outputs of this work is a report "Guidelines and best practices for MSME in delivering energy-efficient products and in providing renewable energy equipment" (August 2020) that is available in English and in Russian. This report was used to develop a related online training course whereby two workshops were held (in English,14 September 2020, and in Russian,1 October 2020). The report was discussed by the Group of Experts on Energy Efficiency at its seventh session (Geneva and online, 22 and 25 September 2020). The work under the project also provided the basis for a publication entitled "Guidelines and Best Practices for Micro-, Small and Medium Enterprises in Delivering Energy-Efficient Products and in Providing Renewable Energy Equipment", which is available for download.
Intensive Learning Session at the EE Global 2018 on Overcoming Barriers to Investing in Energy Efficiency (21 May 2018, Copenhagen)
The session organized jointly by UNECE, Copenhagen Centre on Energy Efficiency, and Institute for Energy Efficiency in Production/EEP looked in more detail into investment decisions in the industry sector, in particular what helps viable projects to be identified and implemented and what stimulates companies to make decisions to finance and implement energy efficiency measures and projects.
Peer learning round table Improving the efficiency of the energy system (1 March 2018, Geneva)
This round table is held in the framework of the Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (1-2 March 2018).
It facilitated peer learning and practical exchange of experiences and best practices for implementing the Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7). The Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (RFSD) follows up on and reviews the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the UNECE region.
