IPR policy governing the development and use of WP.6 deliverables English version, approved by the Working Party on Regulatory Cooperation and Standardization Policies at its 32nd session (decision 13)
Electric mobility (e-mobility) contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, air pollution, and dependence on fossil fuels. Transitioning to electric vehicles (EVs) can lead to a significant decrease in the carbon footprint of transportation and improving air quality in urban areas. E-mobility supports the use of renewable energy sources for charging EVs, further reducing the environmental impact of transportation. Support in adoption of EVs and development of infrastructure and policies to advance e-mobility can make significant progress towards creating a more sustainable and connected future. E-mobility leverages technology and data to optimize the performance and operation of EVs. This includes advancements in battery technology, smart charging infrastructure, and connected vehicle systems that allow for remote monitoring and management of EVs. E-mobility enables the integration of EVs into the larger energy grid, supporting the development of smart grid solutions and renewable energy sources.
The capacity building workshop will discuss the existing initiatives by the reginal commissions in support of e-mobility development. The best available examples and practices from the UNECE, ESCAP and ESCWA regions on the integration of e-mobility into the energy system will also be discussed.
The objective of the workshop is to:
• Assist policymakers in developing policies and strategies that support the widespread adoption of EVs and related infrastructure;
• Explore possibilities for integration of e-mobility into the energy grid;
• Explore the latest innovations in battery technology, smart charging infrastructure, and connected vehicle systems that optimize the operation of EVs;
• Engage various stakeholders to collaborate on accelerating the shift to e-mobility and addressing challenges in its integration with energy systems
