On 11-12 February 2020, the Special Envoy travelled to Oman, where he met with high-level government officials and commended them for making significant progress towards achieving their national road safety goals and SDGs, demonstrated by a reduction of road traffic fatality rate by more than 50% since 2012. In conclusion, the Special Envoy presented the UNRSF, aimed at supporting Member States in their road safety efforts and encouraged support from Oman.
During his visit the Special Envoy met with the following officials:
o Mr. Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al-Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers;
o Mr. Said Hamdon Al-Harthi, Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications;
o Eng. Isam Saud Hareb Al Zadjali, Chairman of Muscat Municipality.
