On 8 December 2021, the Special Envoy met online with Mr. Gilles Michaud, Under-Secretary-General from UNDSS to commend initiatives by the UN Security Management System (UNSMS) to improve internal road safety and encourage more action. The Special Envoy enquired on the implementation status of the UN Internal Road Safety Strategy and to share on his experience of advocating for attention with UN Country Offices to implement the strategy. The Special Envoy concluded that there needs to be more awareness at the country level on this topic and relayed his availability to further support.
