On 6 October 2022, the Special Envoy met virtually with Mr. Mohamed Mezghani Secretary-General of International Public Transport Federation (UITP). On the occasion, the Special Envoy spoke about the relevance of public transport and road safety; discussed the potential cooperation between UITP and himself; encouraged support on the Brussels Friends of Road Safety Network and the #StreetsforLife campaign with JCDecaux; explored opportunities to participate in the UITP Global Public Transport Summit in Barcelona, Spain on 4-7 June 2023; provided an overview of the UN milestones for global road safety; and invited the UITP Secretary-General to the Friends of the Special Envoy Network given the importance of public transport.
