On 4 May, the Special Envoy participated in the Kapuscinski Development Lecture, ‘Safe & Sustainable Mobility: How safe and sustainable mobility can contribute to achieve the SDGs’, organized by the Directorate General for International Cooperation and Development (DGDEVCO) and UNDP. The lecture series offers students from EU Member States an opportunity to discuss development issues.
An outcome of the lecture was to explain past trends in transport priorities, and how best to leverage the COVID-19 emergency response and relief package for road safety and sustainable transport infrastructure. A total of 1,700 participants attended this lecture. Mr. Florent Menegaux, Chief Executive Officer of Michelin, Ms. Lotte Brondum, Executive Director of the Global Alliance of NGOs for Road Safety, Mr. Saul Billingsley, Executive Director of the FIA Foundation, and Deputy Executive Secretary of UNECE, Mr. Dmitry Mariyasin, were among those who joined the event.
