On 5 April 2022, the Special Envoy delivered a speech at the ECE Regional Collaborative Platform for Road Safety Briefing. Throughout the remarks, the Special Envoy commended the efforts of the UN Country Teams and stated that road safety must be first improved at the country level to make the greatest impact. The Special Envoy highlighted recommendations such as improving road safety data collection methods and promoting the use of cleaner modes of mobility. He urged the UN Country Teams to consider road safety in common country analysis and implement the UN internal Road Safety Strategy in country operations.
