On 3 March 2021, the Special Envoy contributed to the online Cambridge Union event. The Union is the largest student-led organization at the University of Cambridge, and the oldest debating society in the world, having hosted other high-level officials, including Mr. Ban Ki-Moon, former UN Secretary General.
Throughout his participation, the Special Envoy shared his mandate as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety and highlighted global road safety issues, elaborating on relevant figures and new targets as well as the impact of COVID-19 on the world’s mobility sector and recovery. Lastly, the Special Envoy showed his support for broader issues, such as gender equality and respect for human rights.
