Task Force on Methane Emissions Reduction

The Task Force on methane emissions reduction is dedicated to advancing efforts to measure, reduce, and manage methane emissions from active, closed, and/or abandoned coal mines, aimed at reducing the risks of methane-related mining incidents, mitigating climate change, and supporting just transition and sustainable development.

Recent focus includes: 

• The development of best practice guidance on processing ventilation air methane (VAM); and 

• Supporting member States in including CMM and VAM emission reduction projects in NDCs and mobilizing funding for such projects.
