
On 28 February 2023 the International Centre of Excellence on CMM in Poland and the UNECE Group of Experts on CMM and Just Transition, organized a sesion dedicated to Coal Mine Methane which was delivered within the framework of the XXXII School of Underground Mining held by the Mineral and Energy Economy Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Faculty of the Mining and Geoengineering of the AGH University of Science and Technology.

The main focus of the event was given to:
- Scale and sources of the global and Polish methane emissions;
- Actions taken by the Polish mining sector to reduce methane emissions from coal mines in Poland and abroad;
- CMM and AMM regulations around the world; and
- Proposed EU regulation on methane and its expected impact on the coal mining sector in Poland.
