The United Nations Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) Economic Forum 2020 on “Regional Cooperation to Support Socio-Economic Recovery in the Wake of COVID-19” will be held from 18 to 19 November 2020 in virtual format.
Under the chairmanship of Kyrgyzstan, seven SPECA participating countries, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of United Nations agencies and programmes, relevant international and regional organizations, international financial institutions and donors will discuss and develop ideas for coordinated actions by Governments, the United Nations system and other relevant stakeholders to respond to the socio-economic impacts of COVID-19, keeping in view the experiences and lessons learned from recent policy actions.
The Forum will also discuss the complementarities between the implementation of short- to medium-term measures to support socio-economic recovery and responding to the call for action to accelerate implementation of relevant international agendas such as the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Vienna Programme of Action.
