The UNECE Expert Group on Resource Classification (EGRC) is pleased to present for public comment the draft document "Redesigning the Uranium Resource Pathway: Application of the United Nations Framework Classification for Resources for Planning and Implementing Sustainable Uranium Projects". The draft document was prepared by the ECE Expert Group on Resource Classification Working Group on the Application of the United Nations Framework Classification for Resources (UNFC) to Nuclear Fuel Resources, led and supported by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
This publication examines uranium as a low-carbon energy material and the application of the United Nations Framework Classification for Resources (UNFC) for planning and implementing sustainable uranium projects. Specifications and guidelines for the management of nuclear fuel resources according to UNFC are available. Use of UNFC can enable countries and companies to consider fully the socio-economic viability, technological maturity and level of knowledge at a project level to ensure that uranium resources contribute to sustainable development and attainment of the 2030 Agenda.
DATES: The public comment period opened on 17 December 2018 and will close cob 15 February 2019 (Closed).
