Supporting Innovation Policy for Sustainable Development in SPECA: The first meeting of the Task Force on the Roadmap for the Development of Innovation Support Infrastructure in the Kyrgyzstan until 2025

In the framework of the project “Strengthening innovation policies for SPECA countries in support of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”, UNECE is supporting the State Agency for Intellectual Property and Innovation under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic (Kyrgyzpatent) in the implementation of innovation policy objectives aimed at developing the innovation support infrastructure through the elaboration of and assistance in the implementation of the dedicated Roadmap until 2025. The support is based on the recommendations of the UNECE Review on Innovation for Sustainable Development of the Kyrgyzstan (2019), the priorities of the SPECA Innovation Strategy for Sustainable Development, the UNECE handbook on “Business incubators to promote sustainable development in the SPECA sub-region”, as well as priority areas for the development of innovation policy identified by the Cabinet Ministers of Kyrgyzstan.

To ensure an effective process for the preparation of the Roadmap and the subsequent implementation of the measures that it will envisage, Kyrgyzpatent, with the support of the UNECE, is establishing a Task Force of comprising key stakeholders from public and private sectors. The meetings of the Task Force, as well as the direct involvement of its participants at different stages of the development of the Roadmap, will ensure an effective dialogue on key areas of innovation policy when it comes to innovation support infrastructure. 

The purpose of this first meeting of the Task Force is to discuss the proposed priority directions for the development of the Roadmap and potential key measures developed by UNECE experts in close cooperation with Kyrgyzpatent. The invited participants will submit their proposals and exchange views, as well as take an active part in subsequent discussions, with the aim of developing the final version of the Roadmap until 2025.
