First workshop on the implementation of the UNECE Strategy for Education for Sustainable Development for the subregion of Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia

Following the decisions taken by the UNECE High-Level meeting (Vilnius, 17-18 March 2005) and by the first meeting of the UNECE Steering Committee on ESD (Geneva, 13-14 December 2005), the first workshop on the implementation of the UNECE Strategy for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) for the sub-region of Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia (EECCA) took place in Moscow on 8-9 November 2006, at the invitation of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
 
The workshop was organised by the Faculty of Geography of Lomonosov Moscow State University and the UNECE. The main objective of the workshop was to facilitate the implementation of the Strategy addressing specific ESD-related issues that are of particular importance for EECCA.
