A seminar for Nordic and Baltic countries "Drinking water and sanitation in a Nordic and Baltic perspective –common challenges and collaboration" was held on 7 and 8 November 2012, at the Quality Airport Hotel Gardermoen in Oslo, Norway.
The seminar was organized by the Norwegian Ministry of Health and Care Services in cooperation with the Nordic Council of Ministers. The purpose of the seminar was to discuss the following issues:
- The existing challenges in the area of drinking water and sanitation in the Nordic and Baltic countries;
- How can the Protocol on Water and Health help to address these challenges;
- Opportunities for Nordic and Baltic countries benefit from the competence and project facilitation mechanism developed under the Protocol to establish a coordinated and better targeted aid and assistance policy in the water and sanitation sector;
- Possibility to establish a closer collaboration between the Nordic and Baltic countries in the area of drinking water and sanitation and in the area of water management, both at national and transboundary levels.
