10am CEST Thursday 22 April 2021
This online training course in English only will provide an introduction to the United Nations Framework Classification for Resources (UNFC) and the United Nations Resource Management System, UNRMS.
Who: The course is designed for those attending the UNECE Resource Management Week 2021, including the 12th session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Expert Group on Resource Management (EGRM) (26-30 April), for the first time and others who are new to UNFC and UNRMS who wish to get a quick overview of them.
What: An introduction to the principles and application of UNFC will be provided. UNFC is a unique, powerful, and simple project- and principles-based classification system for defining the environmental-socio-economic viability and technical feasibility of projects to develop products from a range of sources (anthropogenic, bioenergy, geothermal, injection/storage, minerals, nuclear fuels, petroleum, solar, groundwater and wind). The fundamental criteria, categories, and the project classes established on the categories, will be explained. UNFC is designed to hold quantities of sources and products, but the projects that are classified also hold important other information for use in resource management such as asset information, costs, revenues, emissions, employment etc. UNFC is supporting UNRMS. An introduction to UNRMS will also be provided. Both UNFC and UNRMS will be central elements in the deliberations during the 12th Session of the Expert Group on Resource Management, 26-30 April.
Course Presenters: The course is provided free of charge by Mr. Sigurd Heiberg and Mr. Per Blystad of Petronavit a.s. in cooperation with EGRM.
