The small group on tailings management facilities, comprised of members of the Industrial Accidents Convention’s Bureau and Working Group on Implementation and of the Joint Expert Group on Water and Industrial Accidents, will convene to assess whether there is a need to revise and update the Guidelines to facilitate the identification of hazardous activities for the purposes of the UNECE Industrial Accidents Convention (ECE/CP.TEIA/38/Add.1) to cover more comprehensively the hazards and risks arising from tailings management facilities. It will also discuss elements for the preparation of a related official document for the Conference of the Parties at its thirteenth meeting, as requested by the Conference at its twelfth meeting (ECE/CP.TEIA/44).
