The sixteenth meeting of the Task Force on Access to Justice will be held on 18–19 February 2025, in Salle XXIV, E building, Palais des Nations, Geneva, Switzerland.
The thematic sessions of the present meeting will focus on access to justice in cases related to chemicals and waste management, water quality and noise pollution. The Task Force will aim to identify current trends, legislative developments, good practices, challenges, and innovative approaches in these areas. Furthermore, the delegates will take stock of recent and upcoming developments regarding the implementation of the third pillar of the Convention, particularly in relation to (a) standing, (b) scope of review, and (c) remedies, including injunctive relief. The Task Force will also explore tools to promote effective access to justice such as: (a) multi-stakeholder dialogues to remove existing barriers; (b) dissemination of information on access to review procedures, collection of relevant data and statistics and access to relevant case law using e-justice initiatives, modern digital technologies and other tools; (c) capacity-building and specialization of judiciary and other legal professionals; and (d) alternative dispute resolutions methods.
