Proposed Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9 calls for member States to work together to “build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation”. Beyond that, achieving most if not all of the proposed sustainable development goals will require massive investments in infrastructure and innovation. Building on the discussions at the conference held the previous day, the substantive segment of the session will examine both the role of Innovation, Competitiveness and PPPs in the SDGs and the Committee’s role going forward in adapting its existing tools and activities to make them SDG relevant, and, where necessary, contributing to new tools and activities.
