ESD's role for greening the economy

 

Education for sustainable development is an important instrument for laying the necessary groundwork in society for greening the economy, since understanding and valuing sustainable development is a prerequisite for rethinking past decisions and for raising awareness about greener practices.

Educator competences for ESD

 

The Joint Ministerial Session on ESD held at the Belgrade “Environment for Europe” Ministerial Conference in 2007 recognized that the lack of educator competences is a frequent bottleneck in promoting ESD. The UNECE Expert Group for Educator Competences has drafted a range of educator competences and recommendations for policy makers.

Good practices toolkit

 

In close cooperation with UNESCO, good practises are continously collected to share concrete experiences and examples of ESD implementation. Case studies cover different fields and sectors, from political to the school level and include formal, non formal and informal learning situations.
