On 23 September 2020, the Special Envoy delivered remarks during the 81st session of Global Forum for Road Safety: WP.1, thanking the working party for the important work it undertakes to provide important guidance on road safety regulatory framework worldwide.
The Special Envoy highlighted the impact of COVID-19 on road safety and stressed on the opportunity to rethink mobility systems and the need for the UN legal instruments to follow upcoming trends. The Special Envoy also shared about the adoption of the UN General Assembly Resolution on Improving Global Road Safety (A/RES/74/299) and relevant targets to be met by 2030 as well as emphasized the key role to be played by the UNRSF in coordinating investments in road safety.
