that are interested in other subjects can also meet to discuss the draft

meat standards. A number of errors were corrected and some editorial issues are
highlighted and should be resolved before publication of the second edition. It
is not intended to discuss a revision of the contents of this standard at this
session.

a draft document on the revision of the porcine standard from the United Kingdom.
The Specialized Section is invited to discuss how to proceed with the revision
of this standard.

a draft for a UNECE Standard for Llama carcases and cuts from Bolivia. The
Specialized Section is invited to discuss how to proceed with this proposal.

8:������������ Information on preliminary
work done on different species�����
The Specialized Section will be informed about any preliminary work done concerning the development of standards for veal, turkey meat and goat meat.

A document on this issue is
expected from the United States. Any other work regarding traceability can be
discussed under this agenda item.
Background document:�� TRADE/WP.7/GE.11/2001/11
The secretariat will report on discussions with the legal services of
the United Nations concerning the proposal from Australia.
At the last session it had also been decided that each country would
indicate to the secretariat a list of authorities which are recognized by the
Government to certify conformity with the UNECE standard. Countries should also
indicate any authorities of other countries that they recognize to certify
conformity with the UNECE standard. The lists will be published on the UNECE home page. Up to now no such information has been received.
The secretariat will inform
delegations about planned operational activities in Lithuania and Russia.
Lithuania will adopt the UNECE Bovine Standard and is interested in training
courses concerning its application. The Russian Federation has invited the
Specialized Section to contribute to a seminar on meat cutting in Moscow.
Item 12:���������� Preparation
of the meetings of rapporteurs and the next session of the Specialized Section�����
The Specialized Section is
invited to discuss under this agenda item dates and places of the next meetings
of rapporteurs and the priorities for future work.

The Russian Federation has
also offered to host a meeting of rapporteurs on chicken meat in Moscow in
September.

the Working Party on
Agricultural Quality Standards��������
Any proposal brought to the
attention of the Working Party can be discussed under this item.
Any other subject
can be discussed under this item.
Item 15����������������������� Election
of officers
According
to the Commission's Rules of Procedure and established practice, the
Specialized Section is expected to elect a Chairman and a Vice-Chairman. At its
eleventh session the Group elected Mr. B. Carpenter� (United States) as its Chairman and Mr. I. King (Australia) as
its Vice-Chairman.
Item 16����������������������� Adoption
of the report
The Specialized Section will
adopt the report of its twelfth session on the basis of a draft prepared by the
secretariat.
