The Implementation Committee's objective is to review compliance by the Parties with their obligations under the Convention with a view to assisting them fully to meet their commitments.
The Committee was established by the Meeting of the Parties in February 2001 (decision II/4 of the second Meeting of the Parties, revised as decision III/2, which provides the structure and functions of the Implementation Committee and procedures for review of compliance). The Committee comprises eight members, nominated by Parties that are, in turn, elected by the Meeting of the Parties. |
