Strategic Environmental Assessment (symbol ECE/MP.EIA/AC.3) was established
by the extraordinary meeting of the Parties to the
Convention (Kyiv)
To identify activities
that need to be undertaken pending the entry into

the Protocol
To report on progress
made in respect of the ratification of the Protocol
to the
Meeting of the Parties to the Convention
To prepare for the
first meeting of the Parties to the Convention
serving as the
Meeting of the Parties to the Protocol
In addition:
An ad hoc Group on Amendments (symbol MP.EIA/AC.2) met in March 2003 to discuss possible future amendments to the Convention on
the basis of an informal document presented at the 5th meting of the Working Group on EIA; their report was presented at the 6th meeting of the Working Group.
November 2003 and January 2004 preparatory meetings for the first meeting of the Signatories to the Protocol (shared the same symbol as the Meeting of the Signatories: ECE/MP.EIA/AC.3).
The ad hoc Working Group on the Protocol on Strategic Environmental Assessment (symbol MP.EIA/AC.1) met eight times between May 2001 and January 2003.
The Meeting of the Signatories to the Convention (ENVWA/WG.3, later CEP/WG.3) were held from Adoption and Signature in 1991 until November 1996. Documents may be found on the United Nations Official Documents System
