At the request of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus, UNECE is supporting the pilot application of strategic environmental assessment for the draft national Strategy of Water Resources Management in the context of Climate Change for the period until 2030.
The event aims to train national experts on carrying out the scoping phase of the SEA, including identification of potential environmental aspects that might be affected by the above Strategy, and key problems related to the environment of the concerned territory.
A total of 14 participants, including national experts to undertake SEA, as well as relevant officers from the Department of Water Resources and the Department of Air Impact Control, Climate Change and Expertise, have taken part in this event.
The event is supported by the UNECE secretariat to the Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes (Water Convention) with funding from the European Union Water Initiative Plus programme for the Eastern Partnership Countries (EUWI+).
Additional support is provided by the UNECE secretariat to the Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context (Espoo Convention) and its Protocol on Strategic Environmental Assessment (Protocol on SEA) within the EU4Environment action.
