Online meeting
The meeting is organized in the framework of the Project on the compilation and analysis of information on existing national and joint measures to prevent and respond to pollution in the Syr Darya river basin in emergency situations (Syr Darya Project (Phase I) and is led by the International Water Assessment Center (IWAC) and supported by UNECE, notably, by the UNECE Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes and the UNECE Convention on the Transboundary Effects of Industrial Accidents.
The experts’ group comprises one national experts on industrial safety per riparian country (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan), and the international experts. The group discussed the template and data collection for developing a database on tailings management facilities (TMFs) in the Syr Darya river basin.
