UNECE Convention on the Transboundary Effects of Industrial Accidents will contribute to the meeting by making a presentation by the UNECE consultants on "Development of the structure of the Joint Contingency Plan for the Syr Darya River Basin under the project on Strengthening water supply, sanitation and protection of water resources from accidental pollution in the face of climate change in Uzbekistan".
The UNECE will present information about the above-mentioned project, which is funded by SDC and implemented by the Convention on the Transboundary Effects of Industrial Accidents and Protocol on Water and Health. Besides, the presentation will feature the progress achieved in this project's framework, including at the regional level, and present the framework for a Joint Contingency Plan to enhance regional efforts to improve industrial safety and prevent accidental water pollution in the Syr Darya River Basin. The participants of the meeting members will exchange knowledge and discuss the project's activity, which will contribute to the advanced regional capacities for strengthening tailings safety, preventing/reducing accidental transboundary water pollution, and managing pollution risks.
