Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) are internationally recognized instruments that help to integrate environmental and health considerations in strategic planning and decision making and facilitates the process of transition to a green economy.
Upon request of the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan the three international organizations, including the OSCE Program Office in Nur-Sultan, UNECE and PAGE jointly provide technical support to the Republic of Kazakhstan to enhance the national capacity to effectively develop and implement modern EIA and SEA systems in the country in line with international standards, including the Espoo Convention and the Protocol on SEA.
The aim of the awareness raising workshop is to increase knowledge of national stakeholders, including governmental officials, key decision makers, EIA and SEA experts and NGOs about the procedures and benefits of effective implementation of EIA and SEA developed in line with the Espoo Convention and the Protocol on SEA.
