to the Commission's Rules of Procedure, the first item on the provisional
agenda is the adoption of the agenda.

The
document sums up the outcome of the seventh session of the Committee for Trade,
Industry and Enterprise Development and the fifty-ninth session of the Working
Party on Agricultural Quality Standards.
The
Specialized Section will also be informed about other relevant events in UNECE,
the Working Party on Transport of Perishable Foodstuffs and other organizations
dealing with standardization of meat and meat products.

The
documents represent the result of the meeting of rapporteurs in Moscow. The
text has been edited by the secretariat adapting it to the texts of the other
UNECE standards for meat. Following the recommendation made by the Chairman of
the Specialized Section, the Working Party adopted the text at its last session
as a UNECE standard (see TRADE/WP.7/GE.11/2004/2). Time for drafting groups has
been set aside in the timetable.

The
secretariat will inform delegations about progress made with the publication of
this standard.

secretariat will inform delegations of the progress made with the publication
of the 2004 edition of the standard.

The
Specialized Section may wish to discuss maintenance issues as follows:

A
first meeting of rapporteurs on revision of the porcine standard was held in
St. Petersburg from 22-24 September 2003 following the invitation of the St.
Petersburg branch of the Russian Customs Authority. The outcome of the
discussions is contained in the documents expected from the United States.� The Specialized Section will also discuss
the outcome of a second meeting of rapporteurs, which will take place from
14-16� April 2004 in Warsaw, Poland.
Time for drafting groups has been set aside in the timetable.
Item 7:������������ Proposal for a
UNECE Standard for Llama Meat - Carcases and Cuts

(Bolivia)
The
secretariat has received a new draft for a UNECE Standard for Llama carcases
and cuts from Bolivia. The Specialized Section is invited to discuss how to
proceed with this proposal. Time for drafting groups has been set aside in the
timetable.

Item 9:������������ Information on work on other meats
(e.g.
Turkey, Veal, Variety/Fancy meats)
The
Specialized Section will be informed about any preliminary work done concerning
the development of standards for veal, turkey meat and goat meat.
At
the eleventh session it had also been decided that each country would indicate
to the secretariat a list of authorities, which are recognized by the
Government to certify conformity with the UNECE standard. Countries should also
indicate any authorities of other countries that they recognize to certify
conformity with the UNECE standard. The lists will be published on the UNECE
home page. Up to now no such information has been received.
The
secretariat will inform delegations about planned operational activities.

Item 11:���������� Preparation of the meetings of rapporteurs and the next session of the
Specialized Section�����
The
Specialized Section is invited to discuss, under this agenda item, the dates
and places of the next meetings of rapporteurs and the priorities for future
work.

Item 12:���������� Preparation of
the 60th session of the Working Party on Agricultural Quality Standards��������
Any
proposal brought to the attention of the Working Party can be discussed under
this item.
Item 14:���������� Election of officers
According
to the Commission's Rules of Procedure and established practice, the
Specialized Section is expected to elect a Chairman and a Vice-Chairman. At its
twelfth session the Group elected Mr. B. Carpenter� (United States) as its Chairman and Mr. I. King (Australia) as
its Vice-Chairman.
Item 15����������� :���������� Adoption
of the report
The
Specialized Section will adopt the report of its thirteenth session on the
basis of a draft prepared by the secretariat.
