Item 1: Adoption of the agenda

According to the Commission's Rules of Procedure, the first item on the
provisional agenda shall be the adoption of the
agenda.

Delegations will be informed about
the work of interest that has taken place in different
groups within and outside UNECE (Working Party, Codex
Alimentarius Commission, OECD Scheme).

Draft
proposals were presented by the rapporteurs, which
were discussed and revised at the session or in
working groups (with the exception of peanuts).
Delegations were invited to send comments to the
rapporteurs who will prepare new texts for the
next session based on the discussions at the session
and the contributions received.
A proposal for dried peppers will be made by the
rapporteur (Spain) as soon as the relevant information
can be collected.
Item 6: Revision of the standard
layout/general changes

At the last session the delegation of Germany proposed to reformat UNECE
Standards for dry and dried produce and to try
out the new format on the recommendation for inshell
The proposals, if accepted, will lead to major revisions of the standard
layout, which can be discussed at this session
on the basis of experiences with the recommendation
for inshell almonds.
During
the discussion of the draft standard for dried
peaches the specialized section had seen a need
for different moisture levels depending on whether
the produce is dried untreated, dried treated or
treated rehydrated.
(d) Deletion of the word "(fruit)" from
the name of the Specialized Section
This
change was suggested at the last session to enlarge
the possible scope of the specialized section.
Item 7: Pulses
At the last session interest had been expressed in creating standards
for pulses, as the trade volume of these products
was high. The secretariat will report on any information
received about the status of the relevant Codex
standard CODEX STAN 171-1989 (Rev. 1 - 1995).
Item 8: Elaboration of a sampling plan review
of the work done by the OECD Scheme
The Secretariat will inform the Specialized Section on any progress made
on this issue by the OECD Scheme.
Item 9: UNECE
General conditions of sale for dry (shelled and unshelled)
and dried fruit
Due
to time constraints it was not possible to scan this
publication to make it available on the Internet.
Item
10: Efforts to increase participation
The
secretariat will report on any activities concerning
this topic.
Item 11: Application of UNECE Standards
The
Specialized Section on Standardization of Fresh Fruit
and Vegetables has discussed a new format for reporting
acceptances. The secretariat will distribute the
relevant document adapted to the dry and dried produce
standards before the session.

of quality standards
Delegations
are invited to report on any activities held in the
area of capacity building.

Any other subject can be discussed under this item.

work and meetings
(a) Date
and place of the next session
The next session of the Specialized Section has
been tentatively planned to take place from 12
to 16 June 2006.
(b ) Future
work
A draft agenda for the next meeting including
the tasks to be accomplished will be annexed to
the report of the Specialized Section.

of the next session of the Working Party

Election of officers
According to the Commission's Rules of Procedure and established practice,
the Meeting is expected to elect a Chair and a vice-chair. At the last session the Specialized Section
elected Mr. B. Cauquil (France) as Chairman and
Mr. P. Marzabal (Spain) as Vice-Chairman.

Adoption of the report
The Specialized Section will adopt the report of its fifty-second session
on the basis of a draft prepared by the secretariat. |
