implemented by all regional commissions, and each of them has a regional specific
focus reflecting priority concerns for member countries.
In the UNECE region the project focuses on economic aspect of gender equality
and policies to mobilize women’s potential in the growth process. Its
aims at raising awareness that gender equality is an economic asset to fight
poverty and social exclusion. The project covers countries of South Caucasus
and Central Asia, which are most at risk of not achieving MDGs.
Project objectives:
- Policy oriented research and recommendations in the area of gender and economy
- Additional MDG related and region-specific targets and indicators in gender and economy area
- MDG knowledge hub to disseminate relevant information, analysis and advocacy reports.
The Project is implemented by UNECE through the Multi-Stakeholder
Network representing national statistical offices, economic research
institutes and gender machineries. The SPECA Working
Group on Gender and Economy provides a platform for the implementation
of the project.
The project is implemented in cooperation with other international organizations,
such as ILO, UNDP and UNIFEM.
